To find wild herbs, plants and mushrooms when outdoors is not difficult if you know what and where to look. If you keep your eyes open when outdoors you will always find plants to fill out and improve your food with.

In the following section we will be adding plants that is easy to find in the areas we move in. Some are specific to the northern hemisphere of Europe but others can be found in other parts of the world as well.

To gather plants

When you gather plants it is important that you are definitely certain what species you are gathering because there might be similar plants that are poisons or that got medical properties which might give unwanted effects in the body or disable/enhance the effects of medicine you use.

It is also important to not gather to much in one area but rather spread out the damage to the plants on a larger area. This ensures the plants will return again next year.

In the table below there is information about the different plants such as what month plants or parts of the plants should be possible to gather. The exact timing shifts a bit depending on what weather and temperature it has been previously during the season.

When it comes to roots they are possible to gather all year around as long as the ground is not frozen. But the closer it is to flowering season the less nutrition the root will contain.

Forage able trees, plants and mushrooms.
